The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers (the ‘Company’) is committed to the protection of any personal information we obtain from you by any means, through this website or through any other communication channel.

 

This Policy sets out why we collect personal information, how we use it, our legal basis for holding it, how you can manage the information we hold about you and how you can contact us.

What personal information we collect and why

 

We collect, use and store personal information from you in order to conduct our legitimate business interest. The Company needs to collect and maintain certain personal data in order to fulfil the functions and services of our programme of InPractice events.

 

Where you have provided personal information to us, either to enquire about or to register for one of our events, we will proceed on the basis that you have given consent to us using the information for that purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at inpractice@painters-hall.co.uk. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of processing your information prior to your withdrawal of consent being received and actioned.

 

The information we collect will usually include your name, email address, art school, course information and year of graduation (if relevant). We collect this information to manage the administration of our events, to respond to enquiries, to help tailor our services to meet future requirements and to send you event invitations where you have consented to receive these, or otherwise where we have legitimate interests to contact you.

 

How we collect personal information

 

We may collect information from you whenever you contact us, when you enquire or when you attend our events. These include when you:

 

·     visit the InPractice website at www.painterstainersart.com;

·     enquire about events by email or phone;

·     register to attend an event, either as an individual or as part of a group and provide us with your information;

·     create or update a profile;

·     post content onto our website/social media sites;

·     participate in our events;

·     contact us in any way, including online, email, phone, SMS, social media or post.

 

Where we collect your personal information

 

We collect personal information:

 

·     When you share it with us directly – when you request information about InPractice events; when you register to attend our events; or when you contact us for any other reason.

·     When you give it to us indirectly; by attending an event together with others from the same group; when your information may be shared with us by other organisations and third parties, such as Facebook, WhatsApp or other social media platforms. This information must only be shared in the way they have set out in their own Privacy Policy, which you should check when you give them your details.

·     When you have given another organisation permission to share it.

·     When you use our website – you may choose to provide it to us because you wish to enquire or to attend one of our events. The information you provide is recorded and stored.

·     When it is available on social media – depending on your settings or the privacy policy of the social media you are using, and only within the context of our services, you might give us permission to access information from those accounts or services. We won’t share this information.

 

Securing your personal information

 

·     We take the security of your personal information seriously and will take all technical and organisational measures to safeguard it.

·     We aim to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure of personal information under our control and will always ensure that only authorised persons have access to your information, which means Company staff, members, volunteers and contractors.

·     We may share information with third parties, but only if we run an event in conjunction with them. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal information for their own purposes, only for specific purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

·     The InPractice website may include links to third-party websites. Clicking on those links may allow third-parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and we advise you read the privacy policy of every website you visit.

·     We will only keep your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it. We may retain your personal information for longer in the event of a complaint.

·     No transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure. So, although we strive to safeguard your personal information, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches and any information you provide to us online is at your own risk.

 

Managing your personal information

 

·     You have the right to manage the personal information we hold about you, to request a copy of this personal information and to make amendments when your details change. You also have the right to withdraw any consent you might have given us to receive information on future events.

·     You have the right to object to certain kinds of processing of your personal information (such as automated processing and profiling) and for us to remove all your personal information or restrict its use, where possible under the relevant law.
